Are you a dance artist? Looking for professional development? Access to affordable studio space? Networking opportunities? Connections to local dance artists, and a wider global dance community? Resources?

Dance Centre membership is for you!

Join us, and become part of an organization that is committed to creating an environment where dance can flourish. Our membership includes artists working in every style of dance, and at every career stage, from young emerging artists through to established companies.

The Dance Centre encourages the development of a vibrant dance scene, through resources and programs for professionals, public events that nurture audiences, and the promotion of BC dance. Through the management of our building, Scotiabank Dance Centre, we provide a safe, stimulating space for artists to work in.

“The Dance Centre has been instrumental in the development of our company since its very beginnings - from a group of young artists eager to learn about the contemporary dance world, to a formalized collective creating its first short works, to the full-time company structure we now operate within, which has afforded us the opportunity to share our work across Canada and internationally. At all phases of our growth as artists, and as an organization, The Dance Centre has played a crucial supporting role.”
Lisa Gelley and Josh Martin, Co-Artistic Directors
Company 605

“By supporting dance in all its forms and offering incredible programs and workshops, The Dance Centre has helped us to connect to the fabric of the Vancouver dance experience. The deep respect and insight of the staff have played a huge role in how we, as a Ukrainian Folk-Stage dance ensemble, perceive our own contributions and potential in the world of dance. Membership of The Dance Centre has provided amazing opportunities to present our art form to a broader audience and has been a catalyst for new choreography and collaboration.”
Debbie Karras and Laurel Lawry, Artistic Directors

“Membership of The Dance Centre has opened up opportunities that have helped develop my choreographic career. With the support of the Iris Garland Emerging Choreographer Award, I had the chance to realize and present my first fulllength work in the Faris Family Studio. The Dance Centre has also presented my choreography at International Dance Day, the Scotiabank Dance Centre Open House and Dance In Vancouver. These opportunities not only broadened the dissemination of my work within the Vancouver community but provided a platform to share my work with national and international presenters.”

Action at a Distance

Flamenco Rosario and Centro Flamenco have benefited from the beginning from The Dance Centre’s programs. The Dance Centre has created a friendly environment where we feel welcome and can connect with the rest of the dance community, and where artists feel included and valued regardless of their artistic background.
