Member Benefits & Categories

Membership at The Dance Centre offers dance artists and professionals a wide range of benefits and services. There are different membership categories, with different levels of benefits, for individuals and companies.

Associate Artist Membership: $50 plus GST

• Subscription to Dance Central, The Dance Centre's bimonthly electronic publication, with in-depth articles, interviews, and a performance calendar 
• Subscription to E-Central, The Dance Centre's twice-monthly electronic bulletin, with professional development opportunities and dance news
• Opportunity to subscribe to Dance International magazine, published quarterly by Vancouver Ballet Society, at the discounted rate of $18
• Discounted ad rates in publications, including Dance Central and BC Dance Directory
• Access to Dance Central, E-Central, Diary of Events, and website listings
• Access to building poster displays
• Access to private staff consultations on grant writing, marketing and fundraising
• Discounts to performances, events and workshops presented by The Dance Centre
• Access to the Member section of The Dance Centre's website
• Non-voting category: may attend, but may not vote at, The Dance Centre's Annual General Meeting
• $10 discount on Associate Artist Membership for CADA and DTRC members
• Student Associate Artist Membership (for those in full time undergraduate programs at accredited postsecondary institutions, and those who have graduated in the last year) $25

Full Artist Membership: $75 plus GST

• All Associate Artist Member benefits
• Eligibility to apply to Dance Centre programs and awards, including Artist in Residence, DanceLab, Discover Dance, Dance in Vancouver, Iris Garland Emerging Choreographer Award, Isadora Awards, and more 
• Discounted rates on studio rentals, including access to studio standby discounts and priority booking
• Complimentary use of the Boardroom: 3 hours per month upon availability, non-bankable
• Eligible to borrow videos and magazines
• Eligible to rent video and camera equipment
• Access to video edit suite and video editing workshops
• May vote at The Dance Centre's Annual General Meeting
• Please note that individual members cannot request benefits for their company or institution.

Company Membership

a) Emerging Company: $90 plus GST

This category is for those who have just begun their existence as a company. It is intended to last for a maximum of two years, at which time the emergent company is expected to return to an individual membership or move on to a full Company Membership.

b) Companies and Institutions: according to annual budget

Under $50,000                $115 plus GST

$50,000 - $100,000        $165 plus GST

$100,000 to $500,000    $240 plus GST

Over $500,000               $315 plus GST

• All Full Artist Member benefits
• Access to video library for up to three named company staff members
• Up to three places for Dance Centre workshops at member rates
• Free business card-sized ad in Dance Central once a year
• May vote at The Dance Centre's Annual General Meeting

Charges and conditions may apply. All prices are in Canadian dollars and cover one year's membership.
